Our home was more than just walls and a roof; it was our refuge, our shelter, and our source of safety. Within its walls, the sounds of our laughter filled the space, and my mother’s warm food brought us together around a small table in the kitchen, sharing moments of love and joy despite all the difficulties of life in Gaza.
In this house, we celebrated the simplest things: the first day of school, my brother’s success, or even a cup of tea in the evening with the family. But all these beautiful memories turned to rubble in an instant.
On that fateful night, while we were sleeping safely, the sounds of explosions shook everything around us. Our house was bombed without any warning. Our screams were mixed with the sound of collapse, and amidst the smoke and dust, we ran out into the street barefoot, shocked, and our hearts filled with fear.
My brother now suffers from an injury to his hand from the debris, and my mother also suffers from an injury to her hand. As for us, eight people, we became homeless. We try to sleep under the open sky or in any place that provides us with some security, but everywhere we miss the feeling of warmth that our home gave us.
Our house, which had three rooms, a kitchen and a small living room, was not big, but it was our world. Now, we are left with nothing. We live in a state of loss, trying to imagine how we can start over, but we cannot do it alone.
Why do we need your help? We only dream of rebuilding our home, of having a place that shelters us and preserves our dignity, and of restoring the security that we lost to my mother, father and siblings.
