Please help Arwa and her 8-month-old Qusay survive in Gaza
United States
Hello, I am Arwa. I am 24 years old and married. I have a child named Qusay. My dear child suffers from malnutrition and has weak teeth due to calcium deficiency. Because there is no milk for my child and the inability to obtain proper medical care, my child suffers a lot.
I gave birth to my child on January 21, 2024. He was born among the tents. The birth was extremely difficult. I still suffer from intestinal and back pain, headaches, and constant dizziness. At the beginning of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, our house in Rafah was completely destroyed. We were displaced several times and now live in a dilapidated tent near Al-Aqsa University in Khan Younis. We live in a small tent with little protection from the cold, and we sleep on the ground, which has affected my child’s health. We have all suffered from skin infections. Before the war, my family and I lived a normal life..
You know that those who live in the Gaza Strip must be patient and endure all circumstances. We were able to live and manage our affairs. My husband had a job. Now, unfortunately, his job and our dreams have turned to ashes, and nothing remains of it, as it was completely destroyed.
Our life before the war was not luxurious, but it was safe and somewhat stable until October 7.This is the day our lives changed completely, and I wouldn’t be wrong if I said they stopped from that day on. We were displaced at the beginning of the war since the first day, and we slept in the street for two days without food, clothes, or blankets, and the children were crying in terror from the sound of the bombing. I was pregnant with my child, and they bombed the houses near the street where we were sleeping. We were very scared and we were dying, and the children were about to die from the severity of the situation as Where we saw massacres, women and children killed and injured everywhere. My husband’s uncle was martyred.
We now live in tents and the temperature in the tent reaches extreme heat of 104° F summer and freezing temperatures in the winter due to severe cold in th tent as there are no blankets or winter clothes to protect us. In addition to the flies that do not leave us all day long because the area is full of waste and garbage and the most dangerous is the sound of planes and bombs. And the psychological pressure and fear of the unknown and the future.
I wish you could look into my little boy’s eyes and see what he is saying and what he carries in his heart. I will attach some photos that show you the extent of the tragedy and the daily suffering here, which is deadly and worsening day by day. We have reached the stage of exhaustion and deadly fatigue, and we count the minutes as if they are passing years..
We are now living in a period of great famine, where there is no flour to eat and no healthy food. We are even deprived of canned food, despite the accumulation of humanitarian aid on the other side of the crossing, but it is useless because it has been closed for three months. I appeal to all of you, each by name and title, to look at me and my family with mercy, and to stand with me in my ordeal and difficult times. Everything we have worked hard to build over the years has been lost. All our beautiful moments have been destroyed. And now we must build it all over again. To begin with, I am full of hope, optimism, and faith in you.
