Prek Toal is a floating village on the banks of Cambodia’s Sangke River, near Battambang on the great lake, Tonle Sap. We live in floating houses and fishing is our main source of income.

The Prek Toal Healthcare Project is focused on improving the health of our villagers, educating them to take care of their general health and to understand what needs to be done. This is a long-term project and we know there are many aspects of the villagers’ health that require attention.

Being healthy is a basic need for all people, animals and plants on the earth. Many members of our Prek Toal community, especially older people, children and young people, can not enjoy this basic life expectation.

It is a difficult life for our villagers and often a challenging environment, as life on the water can present a major threat to their health.

Prek Toal Moving Ahead (PTMA) has provided significant support to improving the health of families in Prek Toal, but there is still a lot to be done. We have begun with eye care programs and facilitating education programs, but there is a long way to go.
