Our beloved friend/colleague/family member Baltazar Jimenez has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, which has created a large tumour in his stomach. The tumour is preventing the passage of food and liquid from his stomach and so Balta is on a drip pretty much constantly to provide nutrition for his body.

He is with his supportive and very loving family and beautiful girlfriend Nela and has embarked on a broadly focused healing program including Chemotherapy and a number of natural therapies including, for example, acupuncture.

Baltazar, as we know,is a very gentle, unassuming, independent and strong man. When it was first suggested that some financial help could be pulled together he said it wasn’t necessary.

Insurance covers some of the expenses for the medical treatement Baltazar is receiving however the extra costs and costs of additional therapies and care are considerable and are likely to need to continue for some time. Balta could really use our help.

I’m sure all of you who know Baltazar will join with us in sending your feelings of love and messages of support to him through the ‘Comments’ tab below. For contributions from Australia there is a 2% + $0.30c transaction fee added to your donation and you can optionally donate a small amount (e.g. a couple of $) to the Chuffed organisation which is doing a really great job of supporting a massive range of other causes.

Hi All, We are organising a Ping Pong Party Fundraiser at Ultimo Community Centre on Thursday, the 23rd February from 6 to 9pm. For those who don’t know, Baltazar is a great ping pong player – As he is great in many other things! A few of us have had the advantage to play Ping Pong with Baltazar at the same location for a while, and he definitely outplayed us all – not unusual for him. All are encouraged to come and support Baltazar but participating is completely voluntary, your attendance and support is what matters. Ø Location: Ultimo Community Centre Ø Plenty of one hour car spots are available in the area. Ø Time: Thursday 23rd February from 6pm till late – Likely to extend the following next day for the finals, by next day I mean next night, we are not playing until midnight as much as we’d like to Ø Minimum registering fee: $40 + Individual contribution Ø Preliminary games will be 3 sets of 11 points and all final games will be 5 sets of 21 points Ø Winner prize: $ 70 for the 1st winner, $40 for the 2nd winner, $30 for the 3rd winner. Ø Target donation: $500 Please respond to this by COB Tuesday 14/02/2017 if you will be participating. Once we have the names of players we produce a chart of the participants and how the game will be played.

Hi everyone. Bit of an update – Baltazar’s doctors are planning to put a device into his stomach to ‘hold open’ the exit from his stomach to the small intestine. This will have a number of benefits but the one that is exciting Balta is that this should allow him to start eating an drinking again in the near future. Small step but one that is very significant and positive – just think for a moment of not eating or drinking for an extended period.

It is hard, if not impossible, to understand what you are going through, but David Servan-Schreiber (Psychiatrist) shared his journey against brain cancer in a very genuine and personal way in his book “Anti-cancer”. http://www.anticancerbook.com/ He explored everything he could to understand and fight it better by combining modern medicine, with the right foods, body exercices and mind exercices.
