Less than six months ago, our dear friend Serena discovered a lump in her breast and within a fortnight she had a mastectomy in a bid to cut the cancer out. We hoped that the worst was over after surgeons said they’d caught it, but sadly not. She has now been diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Cancer.

We want to provide support to help Serena beat the survival statistics; a woman who has spent a lifetime unselfishly passing her energy and wisdom onto others.

Her main goal is to see her beloved children Frost & Nehlia reach adulthood. Serena’s mantra is “20 YEARS”.

We are hoping to reduce financial stress by alleviating her inability to work any longer and still look after her young family whilst being able to focus on her health and manage the costs which are associated with advanced cancer.

Serena has flown to Auckland, NZ to see yet another specialist for additional PET scans and to understand all the options available for her treatment.

We hope by setting up this fund all those who Serena has cast her light on over the years can help shine love back on her by helping offset the enormous financial burden this condition places on ordinary working people. And extraordinary ones.

We hope that Serena’s humble vision of the people she has touched in many walks of life can come to fruition and that we can all come together to save her. She always will be an angel. Preferably living, loving and walking amongst us after kicking cancer to the curb for good.

She has blessed this campaign & will report in when she can. We want to spare her precious energy as much as possible but understand that everyone will want to know how she is progressing with her health. With love and light, Vic & Raen

Hi everyone and thank you so much for the fantastic support shown on this fundraising page. Here is an update from Serena on her current state and action plan: After visiting Auckland and having a PET scan, we have discovered the cancer hasn’t metastasized through out the body, as expected by the surgeon. Everyone is surprised and for a moment we can regroup and breathe…. however it is in the lymph node now and is quite large. We will have surgery tomorrow to dissect and remove the node, praying it doesn’t spread… Because the cancer has been resistant to the medication over the last few months and grown so quickly, I will need aggressive chemo/radiation and medication to try to stop it returning… Expect to be facing months of treatment.. But would like to be able to try alternative therapies at the same time to repair the damage done by the vigours of chemo… Better diagnosis, then a few weeks ago but daunting treatment going forward and a lot of praying this does kick it to the curb… We can’t just keep operating… Am grateful for the beauty of human beings helping when they can especially right on Christmas… If I can make my target I want to help others who can’t afford to even spend 3000.00 on the Pet scan (price NZ dollars)…. Women are not being diagnosed correctly… If I had access to a PET scan from day one then maybe we would have done have intensive chemo straight away.. Can’t let other women go through this emotionally devestating roller coaster…
