Dear friends, family, loved ones, and community members, I am reaching out to you on behalf of my beloved sibling, S. S* is an award-winning queer, disabled, neurodivergent, and low-income person of color who was recently hospitalized after facing several years of medical and housing crises. S has also been in the process of escaping abuse in their home. A group of loved ones have come together to raise funds to support their recovery and transition back into safe housing after their discharge.

S is a brilliant community organizer, scientist, musician, visual and sound artist, an activist who has been heavily involved in local mutual aid and arts spaces for many years. A few years ago, S experienced a severe mental health emergency and had to take leave from work to heal. During this time—and even throughout their attempt to return—S faced relentless discrimination and ableism from their employer and coworkers. They were ultimately unjustly let go, further destabilizing their financial and emotional well-being.

They have also been facing significant abuse in their home, and are needing support in navigating legal challenges for their safety. Their Medicaid was recently cut, while dealing with a dental infection and other worsening health issues.

S has supported various marginalized communities with absolute devotion, care, and integrity. Always thinking of others, S has a heart of gold and a genuine humbleness that they bring to all their relations with other humans and more-than-humans. There are also 3 unconditionally loving cats who depend on them.

Now, S needs us. This is our chance to show up for them the way they have always shown up for others.

Every single dollar raised will go directly toward supporting S’s care, recovery, and stability. No portion will be kept by organizers.

URGENT AID NEEDED! Please help S escape domestic violence and secure safe housing, legal help, food, and medical care. S is a disabled, queer, POC immigrant whose Medicaid has been cut, and is in dire need of financial assistance.

Please help S escape domestic violence and secure safe housing, transportation, food, and medical care. S is a disabled, queer, POC immigrant whose Medicaid has been cut, and is in dire need of assistance. They’ve been enduring intense trauma due to experiencing DV in their home for the past 6 months. They ended up being hospitalized due to the impact of said DV, and have received little to no assistance from DV orgs due to it not being intimate partner-related DV. Additionally, due to having 3 cats, they are not eligible for housing at a shelter.

They have been struggling with all of this while trying to navigate getting legal aid, and have no consistent source of income due to their disabilities. To make matters worse, they have been dealing with a worsening dental infection alongside other health issues, and now that their Medicaid has been cut due to them being an immigrant, they now are at risk of not being able to access their life-saving medication.
