Saving Hala and her family
Canada
Hello My name is Juliana Velasquez, Hala and I met online June 2023. Hala has become my dear friend, my sister ❤️. I have grown to love Hala and her children dearly and I want for her children to have every opportunity mine have please allow me to introduce you to Hala and her beautiful family, and join me in supporting them as they struggle to survive amidst a brutal occupation and genocide
My name is Hala, I am 30 years old, a mother of five young children. My husband, Abdullah, and our children and I endure unimaginable hardship, living in a small tent in the harsh Gaza heat. Deprived of clean water, food and adequate shelter, our basic human needs are not being met. The deteriorating situation here has made us vulnerable to diseases that are widespread within the camp. Severe malnutrition has affected my family, causing significant weight loss, and we find ourselves unable to rebuild our lives or even live normally.
My five children are suffering physically and psychologically. Muhammad suffers from Lymph glandlymphadenitis. He had burns on his feet due to the war. Noah, who was born during displacement in displacement camps, has never known safety and is suffering from a crisis due to a lack of medicine. The atrocities they witnessed have left my children severely traumatized, waking up at night screaming in fear.
Ahmed, once a beacon of joy and energy, is now gravely ill from contaminated water. Talin, my precious daughter, deserves a chance at a normal life.
My daughter Talin and my son Mahmoud, on one of our happy days that we dream of returning to for a moment.
After these months of naval and land strikes and under aerial bombardment, it seemed that there was no hope for the war to end.
We want to leave these difficult circumstances. All I want is to save my family, especially my children, and get out of Gaza. Unfortunately, evacuating Gaza is not easy as I mentioned before, but this will only be possible through your generosity, support and assistance. So please help us get out of this cruel war.
I have lost my home for the second time. In the 2014 war, my home was completely destroyed. Now, in this war, I have lost my home again. We didn’t even have the chance to make many memories in it. The home was our sanctuary, a place to build our dreams and raise our children. It was our refuge amidst the chaos, a symbol of hope and safety.
Losing it for the second time means losing a part of our soul. Every corner of that home held a piece of our lives, the laughter of our children, our nightly conversations, and our hope for a better tomorrow. We struggled to live a dignified life amidst all these hardships, but losing our home again weighs heavily on us, making us feel as if the ground is being pulled from under our feet.
Our home was not just walls and a roof; it was a part of our identity, of the dreams we tried to realize amidst the destruction. Losing it again means starting from scratch in a world that shows no mercy.
All we ask for is a chance to rebuild our lives, for the sake of our children who deserve to grow up in a safe place, without fear of the present and without harsh memories tainting their innocence.
I am writing to you with a critical and difficult update regarding Hala and her family. The funds in our campaign have been fully depleted, with the last transfer made last week.
Unfortunately, this has already had severe consequences. Hala’s husband, in a desperate attempt to feed his family, was forced to go to an aid site. These locations are extremely dangerous, with reports of people being shot and killed daily. He and a friend managed to secure only a 10 kg bag of flour to split between both families.
This situation puts the family in immediate and grave danger. Their primary means of survival has been cut off, and they are now facing life-threatening risks just to find food.
The support you’ve provided has been instrumental in helping Hala’s family survive their recent medical crises and afford food from the markets. However, their situation is now more dire than ever.
Here is an update on the health situation of Hala and her children:
Hala: She has been diagnosed by doctors as malnourished. Shockingly, doctors also told her that an infected sore on her foot was so severe that if it hadn’t been treated immediately, she would have needed an amputation. Due to restrictions, she is unfortunately ineligible for special supplements or food aid.
Noah: He has been repeatedly sick with a persistent cough, diarrhea, and high fevers.
Ahmed, Noah, and Talin: They have all been battling a respiratory infection.
Mohammed: He required medication for infected sores on his foot.
Please consider donating again so we can keep this family healthy and whole
with endless gratitude

An update for all you generous, kind folks!
We wanted to share a recent story that truly highlights the power of your support. Last week, poor Ahmed broke his wrist and endured a long day at the hospital for a cast and painkillers. Just a few nights later, in a terrifying turn, his father had to rush him back in the middle of the night because he couldn’t breathe. He was diagnosed with a severe chest infection.
It was your generous donations that made the crucial medication he needed possible. Thanks to the quick actions of his family and the resources made available by your kindness, Ahmed is now recovering.
Stories like Ahmed’s remind us of the immediate, life-changing impact your contributions have. While we celebrate his recovery, the need for our work continues daily.
Please consider continuing your incredible support. Every donation helps us ensure that when an emergency strikes, we can be there to provide essential aid.
Thank you for being a lifeline for Ahmed and his whole family, and please continue to give generously.
Now a few words for Sister Hala
Unfortunately, the situation is getting worse by the day. As a mother and a wife, my only wish is to provide my family with basic necessities: healthy food, clean water, diapers, and milk for my baby. Treatments . But this has become impossible. The blockade of trucks at the border has caused sharp increases in prices, and after more than a year and nine months without income, meeting even the most basic needs has become an insurmountable challenge.
In these difficult times, our only hope lies in your generous contributions. Without your solidarity, we have no way forward. Please continue to support us: we need your help now more than ever.
The situation is made even more difficult by the 35% fee deducted when withdrawing funds. I ask you to put yourself in my shoes, and I hope my words will touch your hearts.
