Alaa lives in Gaza with her husband Shadi and lovely 2 year old daughter Ghina. She was previously studying Business Administration at the Islamic University in Gaza before their lives were horribly upended and their livelihoods destroyed over the last year. Her husband sustained a serious gunshot wound in the spring, and the family faces threats, violence, and death on the daily.

In the spring and summer, Alaa decided to try to farm and plant what she could- eggplants, watermelons, and some vegetable seedlings- to try to feed and provide for her nutrition deprived family. Now in winter, Alaa and her family do not have warm enough clothes or blankets, and they are facing harsh temperatures sometimes below 40F/4C. Price gouging is so high that she can barely afford food except for lentils and canned goods.

**Alaa and her husband hope to raise enough funds to begin reconstructing their home. One day, Alaa hopes that she will be able to resume her studies and that her husband can continue his landscaping business, and that they can live with their daughter in safety.

Thank you all for your support of this family and we urge you to share Alaa’s story and page with your friends, family, and online and offline communities.

Dear Community,

Thank you for your steadfast support of Alaa and her family over the last year.

She has asked us to increase the campaign goal in order to continue to provide basics and essentials for her lovely daughter and husband. The costs of food are exorbitant, and the dangers of accessing aid increase everyday. We encourage you to continue donating and sharing Alaa’s story with your online and offline communities, as they face daily horrors of hunger and starvation, sieges and targeted attacks, and disease/epidemics and decline of health. Every single dollar counts, and we are grateful for your continued support.

Dear Community,

Thank you for your ongoing support of Alaa, her daughter Ghina, and her husband Shadi. As Gaza enters the worst phase of famine in this stage of genocide, your support is needed now more than ever. Please read her message:

I wish the world would know that the pain and suffering are greater than words can describe. We are living in a reality that no human being on this planet can imagine. The harshest conditions we are living in. The situation in Gaza is very tragic, where food is limited and expensive. Imagine a kilo of flour for $50, imagine a kilo of tomatoes or onions for $35, baby milk for $60, most of the canned food has expired a very long time ago. Imagine the price of one fruit, mango for $12, apples also for $12, imagine a kilo of grapes for $35. If you need $1,774.10 in cash, you will have to withdraw it at a rate of 40%, so you will need about $300 a month. We are living on the bare minimum, and the burden increases every day. We are living in constant displacement and heavy bombardment. Your support is what keeps us alive, but we are facing crazy inflation and a complete collapse in the availability of basic necessities.

Dear Community,

Thank you for your steadfast support of Alaa and her husband and their daughter Ghina. Please read this note from Alaa about the surging costs of food and the hardship they face. Thank you for your generosity and we encourage you to share Alaa’s story and fundraiser with your online and offline communities. Every dollar counts!

“I wish people would really know what we are going through. Many people abroad still don’t believe what is happening in Gaza or think it is limited to one area. We have seen this a lot on social media, but the truth is that the aggression has destroyed Gaza from north to south. Gaza doesn’t have a livelihood… it only has survival. We need urgent help. The situation is extremely difficult. We have no food or water, and even bread is unavailable. A bag of flour has reached $300. Under normal circumstances, it costs around $4. Prices are skyrocketing. Who doesn’t know that the prices of products are increasing every day!! The price of 12 kilograms of gas is $1,000. The price of one kilogram of fish is $110. One egg = $2.50. Even the price of a lighter is $11. Basic necessities are out of reach. If the bombing doesn’t kill us, can a donation of $300-$500 help us secure basic supplies, including flour, to feed my baby and survive? We desperately need financial support now.”
