Support Curtiss’s Battle Against Cancer
Story
My name is Destinee, and I’m setting this up on behalf of my dad, Curtiss, and my mom, Maria. My dad has been bravely battling bladder cancer for the last 7 years, and because of God’s grace, the treatments had been successful. However, in April of 2025, my dad and our family got horrific news that the cancer had now spread beyond the bladder and into surrounding areas consisting of the urethra and lymph nodes. The treatments consist of 4 months of chemo treatments, and once that’s complete, he will undergo surgery to remove the cancerous areas. The doctors are estimating Curtiss will not return to work until 9 months after the start of his first chemo treatment, which puts us at about January/February 2026.
My parents have been blessed to be able to cover all medical expenses the last 7 years, but with needing to take this much time off work, I’d like to alleviate some of the financial burden that comes along with a cancer diagnosis. I’d like my mom to be able to be with him and cover any travel expenses and also cover their home mortgage for the next few months.
My dad works incredibly hard and has his whole life. He is still working now and even trying to work remotely while going through treatments. He deserves to be able to rest and heal. He is an amazing husband of 32 years, a devoted father of 4 (7 including his bonus daughters and more if you’re one of his kid’s friends lol), an involved grandparent of 5 crazy Groves grandkids, and a great friend who loves conversation and just being around you all. He’s a man who values relationships and is slow to anger and quick to forgive. He happily and selflessly helps those who need it—even when they don’t ask. And now is the time I set this up so he can get the help even when he isn’t asking for it. He is a follower of Jesus and knows God will heal him.
