Support Donna’s Stroke Recovery Journey

Story

While mom and dad were vacationing in Kauai, mom suffered a right frontal lobe intraparenchymal hemorrhage, a brain bleed stroke. She lost mobility and control of the left side of her body and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. After a few days in the ICU, she gained stability, and after a full week in the hospital, we were able to fly her home with the help of dad and me (their middle kid, Lindsey). We transferred her care to an in-patient rehabilitation center closer to home, and they’ll be working with her to regain mobility, balance, and everyday functions.

Unfortunately, all of their emergency medical care in Kauai was out-of-network. Mom’s employer doesn’t include paid time off, so these are unexpected unpaid days that will impact their monthly bills. While the rehabilitation center is in-network, it will still have out-of-pocket costs.

We don’t know all of the expenses yet, but you can imagine the financial strain this kind of emergency and crisis can add to a household. For any of you who have asked how to help and would like to contribute to their anticipated expenses, I know it’ll be a huge relief and gift for them to receive. As always, prayers are essential and appreciated as we navigate next steps towards health and stability for our family!
