Dear donors, My name is Eslam, and I live in Gaza with my husband and our 9-year-old son. The relentless violence has forced us to be displaced more than 10 times since October 2023, moving from north Gaza to Nusirat camp, then to Deir al Balah, to Rafah, and many other places. We face the urgent need to create a stable home from the rubble of our previous lives. Our journey to parenthood was marked by immense trials, including years of heartbreaking infertility and the physical, financial, and emotional strain of IVF treatment. Our son is not just our ray of hope but also a symbol of our family’s resilience. Yet, the horrors unfolding in Gaza fill us with constant fear for his safety. Warm regards, Eslam

Dear friends,

I want to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude for all the support and donations you have given us throughout these devastating months of war in Gaza. Your kindness has truly been a lifeline for me and my family.

But today, I am reaching out to you again — with a heavy heart and a desperate plea.

Every waking moment is consumed by the harsh reality of famine that has ravaged our country. The markets, once filled with abundance, now seem like a cruel joke with prices that are impossibly out of reach. The staples we once took for granted, like flour, have vanished, leaving us with nothing but despair. My young son’s eyes, once bright with anticipation, now dim with worry as he struggles to comprehend why bread, a daily staple he’s always enjoyed, is now a luxury we can’t afford.

Watching him suffer from hunger is a torment I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. His tiny body, once full of energy and life, now weakens with each passing day. The thought of him going to bed with an empty stomach is a weight I carry every moment. I cry daily, tears streaming down my face as I see my only child, my precious son, begging for food, his eyes pleading for the simplest comforts we once took for granted.

Our bodies are exhausted, our health deteriorating from the lack of nourishment. Hunger pangs gnaw at us relentlessly, leaving us weak and sick. Our bones feel frail, our strength sapped by the constant struggle to survive. In this desperate situation, I find myself torn between fears – fear of dying from the bombings that seem to never cease, or fear of succumbing to the slow, agonizing death of hunger and thirst. The thought of dying from hunger, of watching my child waste away, is a nightmare from which I cannot wake up.

Please, I beg of you, don’t let us succumb to hunger. Your support, a lifeline in this dark time, could be the difference between life and death for us. With your help, I could buy the food we so desperately need, and perhaps, just perhaps, we might find a glimmer of hope in this abyss of despair. Your kindness could save our lives, and for that, I would be eternally grateful.

With all my heart, thank you for standing with us. And please, if you can, stand with us again.
