Story
This April, our friend, everyone’s friend, professional artist Fausto Fernandez suffered a severe stroke. After a week in the ICU, he is now in hospital rehabilitation and making some progress everyday.
Fausto is a pillar in his community.
He earns his income as a painter and public artist with works in numerous museum and civic collections. He is a volunteer and serves on city art committees and boards.
Fausto is now unable to work, manage his studio, artist/community driven gallery space, or to pursue public projects and new income earning opportunities.
Fausto’s family lives out of state. They are incurring travel expenses in addition to helping Fausto with medical costs.
It will be a long road ahead. As he begins much needed physical and speech therapies please consider any amount that will help Fausto and family towards his recovery.
UPDATE:
Joe Brklacich – Hello to all Friends of Fausto, we are still in the early stages of evaluating Fausto’s situation. While his long-term prognosis remains positive, he has a long road ahead of him with both physical and speech therapy. Realistically, it could be 6 to 12 months before Fausto is able to fully do the things he does best, make beautiful art and network in order to sell his work to make a living and pay his bills. Funds raised will go toward covering his living expenses and medical bills. Even with insurance, his medical expenses are likely to be overwhelming.
