On 29th January, our world fell apart when we learned that Mum had been diagnosed with stage IV Ovarian cancer which had metastasised to her liver and bowel causing massive and unrepairable damage.

With a massive fight and the strength of everyone around her, Mum managed to beat all odds undergoing emergency surgery and quite a few very close calls, spending the better part of a month in palliative care only to be released with the hope of returning for chemotherapy to provide her with some quality time with her family.

We are now seeing her finish her second round of chemotherapy, with the vision of finishing 4 rounds, in the hope that the doctors may be able to operate and remove some of the tumours, giving her as much time as they can!

Although we have had a massive effort from friends and family who have helped with food, care, cleaning and renovations, there are still a lot of expenses involved in treatment, travel and buying Mum the things she needs to get around.

We have a needs list which includes:

Transport (electric wheelchair/scooter etc)

Medications

Medical Consumables (dressings, pads etc)

We also have a very humble wish:

Mum would love nothing more than to enjoy a week at Tallebudgera with her family. For generations, this family have enjoyed camping at Tallebudgera. Mum and Dad have enjoyed the privilege of introducing this to Mark’s and my children in recent times. With mums frail condition at present, we would not be able to camp. But I would love to provide her the holiday she dreams of either in a neighbouring apartment or villa.

Please help us raise these much needed funds to assist Mum in fighting this nasty disease and allowing her the opportunity to make memories with her grandchildren that will stay with them forever.

I have set the target at $5,000, this will not cover everything, but would certainly take the pressure off and allow us to take Mum on her holiday.
