I’m Hazem, a 25 year old medical student studying abroad and I haven’t seen my family in six years I was waiting for the day I could return home but when I did I found that everything had been erased.
We are a large family of five brothers and three sisters including young children We all used to live together in one home, and the house was a three-story building. My father worked as a driver, and my brothers worked in accounting. Our home was simple but filled with beautiful memories, and my father had even built an extra floor especially for my brother’s wedding.
Before our lives were shattered we were preparing to celebrate his wedding but the war came suddenly destroying our home completely taking away all the money we had and crushing our dreams.
Today, my family has been living in a tent for about a year and a half. Life there is extremely hard in the summer they suffer from unbearable heat and in the winter they struggle to stay warm in the freezing cold. Rain and wind have already destroyed the tent once and my father had to rebuild it
The water available is not clean and poses a health risk, and getting food is extremely difficult due to high prices and scarce resources.
My priority right now is to provide my family with food and clean water I plan to rebuild our three story home so it can once again be a safe place for us The war has taken everything from us but we still hold on to the hope that we can rebuild our lives.
