Help Our Hero: VA ICU Nurse Fighting Brain Cancer Needs Your Support

We are reaching out to our community with heavy hearts to ask for your help in supporting our dear friend, coworker, and compassionate ICU nurse, Tuesday, who has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer.

For over a decade, Tuesday has dedicated her life to caring for others at the VA Medical Center. She passionately serves our Veterans; working hard to provide exceptional life-saving care, comforting families, and holding a Veteran’s hand during their recovery or final moments. Tuesday now faces the reality that the healer has become the patient with her recent diagnosis.

On May 13, while working in the ICU, Tuesday began feeling unwell. She asked a colleague to check her vitals, and things quickly escalated. She was taken to the Emergency Department, where an urgent workup revealed devastating news: a brain neoplasm. On Saturday May 17th, she underwent a craniotomy to remove what was confirmed to be a grade 2-3 glioma.

Tuesday is now recovering at home, surrounded by the love of her family, including her 11 year old daughter, who is the light of her life. While she awaits further treatment recommendations from her neurosurgical and oncology teams, she faces an uncertain and difficult road ahead.

As many of you know, Tuesday is an all-around kind, nurturing and caring person not only due to her profession. She is a very active member at her church and also happy to volunteer her time at her daughter’s school functions. Tuesday is a selfless and strong person who shows up every day to care for others.

Now it’s our turn to care for her.

Why We’re Raising Funds
Tuesday will be out of work for at least three months—possibly longer—as she recovers physically and emotionally from surgery and prepares for what’s next in her treatment journey.

These funds will help:
Offset lost wages and unpaid medical leave
Cover ongoing medical expenses, treatments, and follow-up care
Support her household and childcare needs during this critical time
