Story
I’m Skip Saenger, an old friend of Kenji and Ann Marie Webb.
As many of you know, Kenji is in the hospital with advanced pancreatic cancer. He’s the primary caregiver to his wife, Anne Marie, who has early onset dementia. Each on their own is devastating.
Pancreatic cancer moves at lightning speed and affects overhead costs and medical supervision. Life-changing in the blink of an eye.
Anne Marie is going to need full-time care very soon. She retired years ago from being the director of childcare at Santa Barbara City College. Quite a legacy. She loved surfing, fishing, camping, and her birds.
Kenji wore many hats. He was a Carpinteria City Lifeguard for many years, a kayak guide for the Adventure Company in the Channel Islands, and all up and down the California Coast.
An early pro longboarder, making the top 16 for a few years. Also well known from Santa Cruz to Malibu, surfing in the longboard surf club coalition. Early surfboard fin builder and surfboard shaper during a great period of research and development.
His artwork and creative endeavors were diverse, to say the least. Painting, sculpture, and ceramics came naturally to him. His career-ending job was in the art department at Cal State Channel Islands, a job he continued until retiring early to care for his wife full-time.
Their benefits didn’t match their overhead, so now they need help.
Please help if you can. All proceeds go to his hospice needs and her full-time care.
With respect and gratitude,
=Skip
