Support Michael’s Fight Against Aggressive Cancer

My brother Michael is facing an incredibly painful and unfair battle. Nearly a year ago, Michael underwent a thyroidectomy after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. During surgery, the surgeon knowingly left behind diseased tissue, explaining that it was too close to his vocal cords—and knowing Michael was a singer, decided not to remove it. Tragically, that decision has had devastating consequences. The cancer has since spread to other areas of his throat and is now considered inoperable. Despite the strength and hope, Michael was also misinformed about the severity and rarity of his gene mutations. He underwent a treatment plan that, according to his new doctors, was not the correct protocol for this type of cancer—meaning he lost precious time, money, and hope on something that never had a real chance of helping. Now, the cancer is more aggressive than ever. Michael must begin targeted radiation therapy five days a week for six weeks, over two hours away from his home. The physical, emotional, and financial toll is overwhelming. Michael is not only fighting for his life—he’s facing the real possibility of never being able to sing again. Music is his passion, his livelihood, and his identity. Being out of work, and with his wife Melissa unable to work full-time acting as his caregiver and driver, their household is under extreme financial strain. To make things even more heartbreaking, Michael has never asked for financial help. He toughed out the first year of treatment, believing it would work. He didn’t want to fundraise for himself, especially because his daughter Virginia is also battling cancer and already has a GoFundMe of her own. But now, he needs our help more than ever—just to get through this next chapter of his fight. I am raising funds to help cover: daily travel to and from treatment, out-of-pocket medical expenses, and basic living costs while Michael and Melissa are unable to work.
