Story

Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

My name is Hannah, and I’m the proud mom of a brave and beautiful little girl named Penelope.

In August of 2024, our world shifted when Penelope was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)—an autoimmune condition that causes Penelope persistent inflammation in her knees—and Uveitis, a serious eye condition that threatens her vision in both eyes.

Even on her good days, Penelope struggles with joint pain, stiffness, and mobility issues. At her worst, she needs help just to shift positions on the couch. She receives weekly injections/medication (administered at home with me), monthly infusions at Boystown in Omaha, and frequent appointments with her rheumatologist and eye specialist.

Her uveitis is a silent but dangerous battle. She has endured monthly eye exams and has been on a constant regimen of medications since her diagnosis. If not managed properly, this condition can lead to glaucoma, cataracts, permanent vision loss, or complete blindness.

Despite my best efforts—working three jobs and caring for Penelope full-time—we’ve accumulated nearly 10,000 in medical debt, and that number continues to grow with ongoing treatment and medication costs.

We’re also facing a critical issue with our vehicle. The frequent 100+ mile round trips to Omaha for treatments and doctor visits have taken a toll, and we either need a new, reliable vehicle or approximately 7,000 in urgent repairs.
