TeaMMed is a Monash University global health organisation, who seek to undertake global health projects all over the world. Over the past 6 years TeaMMed have had well established projects in Tonga, Uganda, India and Nepal, which seek to supplement local resources and address regional healthcare needs.

We are TeaMMed Nepal, a group of 13 medical students who will travel together to Nepal in December.

The short-term goals are to provide medical aid to the rural village of Bhakanje. The program involves taking supplies and resources to the area and providing basic healthcare with the help of a local Nepalese doctor.

The project serves a specific area of need, as there is currently no healthcare facility in the region, and the village is too far from Kathmandu for the residents to have meaningful access to healthcare. TeaMMed works in conjunction with the local Llama and monastery, as well as the Himalayan Guge Organisation (HGO), a local organisation with close ties to the community, to address these needs.

Previously, TeaMMed Nepal visited the rural town of Bigu, and was involved in supporting and providing healthcare in this region. In 2017, due to the efforts of TeaMMed and charitable donors, the long-term goal of establishing a permanent working clinic in Bigu was achieved. We hope to replicate this success in December and eventually set up a permanent working health clinic.

The trip is entirely self-funded, and we are currently dedicating our time and efforts into raising funds and awareness for the purchase of essential supplies, medications, and funds to pay for a Nepalese interpreter and doctor, in order to help us provide the best care possible.

Your help would provide us with funds as well as help us maintain and foster our relationship with this community and thus help us in our long term goal of setting up a permanent medical clinic, staffed by local doctors.
