My name is Soukhena, a college student from the US and I am raising funds on behalf of my Gazan friend Khaled and his wife Shaima. Here are their words:

“I’m Shaima, a mother of three children. I used to live a simple life with my family before the war came and destroyed everything, turning our lives into a nightmare of suffering and displacement. Our home was completely destroyed, and now my husband, children, and I are living in a tent that is unfit for life—amid freezing cold, rain, viruses, diseases, and contaminated water—without food, medicine, or basic necessities.

My children suffered severe injuries due to the bombing:

Lynn was wounded by shrapnel in her hand and chest.

Maryam was hit by shrapnel in her head, neck, and thigh.

Shahd, my youngest daughter, was pulled from under the rubble with shrapnel wounds in her hand, causing tendon cuts in her fingers. She urgently needs specialized surgery, which is unavailable in Gaza due to the war. Doctors have recommended that she travel abroad for treatment, but circumstances prevent us from doing so.As for my husband, he suffers from severe kidney stones, which his kidneys continuously produce due to contaminated water and malnutrition. The stones have reached 4 cm in size, and he was in desperate need of traveling for treatment, but the war has made it impossible.

Today, I reach out to you with a grieving heart, pleading for your support in our time of distress. My family is without a provider, my children are in pain, and our situation worsens daily. We urgently need your help to provide medical treatment for my daughter Shahd and support her travel abroad, as well as to secure treatment for my husband and meet my family’s basic needs.

Please, do not leave us alone in this hardship. Your donations can be a lifeline for my children. Every contribution could mean a new chance at life.” Thank you so much for your kindness and consideration.
