A Message from Shadia’s Mother
I am Shadia’s mother: Shadia has special needs, she is deaf and cannot speak or hear since birth. We performed a cochlear implant operation on her at the age of four by an Emirati medical team that was visiting Gaza. Shadia stayed in the operating room for 5 hours, where a cochlear implant was implanted inside my head and an external hearing aid. Thank God, she was able to pronounce some words and hear loud sounds. She entered private schools, but now the external hearing aid is broken and Shadia cannot hear. This hearing aid is not available, so I cannot fix it for her because it requires large sums of money and there is no one for Shadia except me. When she was born, I did not work and there is no job opportunity so that I can fix most of the hearing aids for my daughter Shadia. In addition, I was displaced from northern Gaza and our house was destroyed. We now live in southern Gaza in a tent and the living conditions are very difficult because Abu Shadia is besieged in northern Gaza and there is no source of income. I hope for help so that I can fix my daughter Shadia’s hearing aid so that she can live like the rest of the children in the world. Thank you very much.
