Vincent Chase Needs Your Help to Heal

Story

Vincent Chase is a special character. Truly a mythical creature. Not just because he is a stunning white creature whose coat glows but because he has wings that he has shared with me.

He has far exceeded my goals and filled me with pride in our partnership. We brought each other up through the levels, a place I wasn’t sure I would ever get back to and always with big smiles on our faces. We just kept ticking off boxes; Preliminary, Intermediate, 3*, Advanced, 4*. We were having fun and creating a family of folks that are Vincent Chase fans. Folks who enjoy his character as much as I do. Celebrating his ‘joie de vie’ and neverending cheekiness. We were never very fast because of his breathing issues, but always had a fabulous time together. He gave this old lady too many rides of my life, many more than I ever expected. And we have carried the well wishes and cheers of so many with us. So many people ride with me when we go out of the startbox. We ALL shake our heads at his antics in the dressage ring, though he is trying harder these days. But watching him run and jump makes everyone smile! I am a normal hardworking person with my ‘cheap’ OTTB and we ROCK! And his fans rock!

Vinnie has more that he wants to do, but he needs help to feel his best. Those of you who know our history know that his breathing has always been a struggle. His vets have thought WAY outside of the box and we have solved the mystery that is his wind. That took years. Now we face another challenge. His neck needs diagnostics and intervention. It is work that cutting edge and has radically extended and improved several athlete’s careers. If successful, we could be back up and running around challenging tracks again, celebrating every moment with Vinnie Chase fans. The alternative is that he retires and at 13 and full of life he doesn’t seem ready for that. Whatever we end up doing, it will all be with his best interest at heart. But we need to try to find out what is going on. And we need help to do it.
